Rules

There are a few rules that we need to comply with in order for external judges to assess our competition entries consistently and fairly (though there’s always someone who’ll argue that this was not the case regardless!). So here goes:

1 GENERAL

  • Only MCC members are eligible to enter competitions.
  • All images entered by a member must be that members original work. A comercially produced print is acceptable in appropriate competitions as long as the original image has been created by the member entering that print.
  • Within the limitations above and subject to the conditions of any particular competition, images are acceptable whether they have been produced by conventional photographic methods (film, darkroom, etc.) or by digital methods (digital camera, scanner, printer, etc.)
  • Re-size your images to pixel size 1400 x 1050 landscape/1050 x 1400 portrait.  300 dpi for printed images/96 dpi for projected images, jpeg only. (See the Useful Tips menu for further details on notes on mounting).
  • A maximum of 3 images can by entered for each competition by each member. Image of the Month requires only 1 entry.
  • Images entered previously cannot be re-submitted. This includes images that have been converted to monochrome from colour (and vice versa), images that have been altered slightly but where the main focal point remains the same and images that were captured within seconds of previous entries where the difference is miniscule. In short, 12 different and original images should be attempted for the 4 externally judged competitions and 3 for the Set Subject Competition.
  • All competitions are judged by external judges aside from the two Image of the Month Competitions (see below) and the Set Subject Competition. This will be judged by the previous season’s winner, who will be ineligible to enter.
  • Image of the Month is judged by your peers and only 1 image (print only) per member is permitted. This image can also be entered for 1 other competition if it complies with the following rules:

2 SET SUBJECT COMPETITION

  • The competetion subject will be published in the syllabus and announced on this website. (The 2011 set subject theme is ‘Abstract’)
